Anna Faris and Chris Pratt Split After 8 Years

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt Split After 8 Years

Among many other articles, the Washington Post reported this week that Chris Pratt (38), star of Parks and Recreation and Guardians of the Galaxy and Anna Faris (40) of the CBS sitcom Mom have announced their separation. While celebrity splits aren’t exactly front-page news, this breakup has fans particularly heartbroken given the couple’s open stance regarding their relationship and parenting.

The couple grew up only 20 minutes apart here in Washington State, but didn’t meet until they were both in LA together. The parties remain friends and are committed to parenting their son together, although according to some sources Pratts’ A-list status keeps him away from the family for extended periods of time, and Anna needed more of a family life.

In their statement released to the press they wrote: “We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”

Unlike most celebrity couples, Pratt and Faris seemed down-to-earth and truly in love. They appeared to be together long-term. But just like all couples, it is hard to know what is really going on when you aren’t inside of the marriage. It is interesting that the couple has chosen to legally separate rather than divorce. After 8 years together (and a son) it leads to questions regarding their plans for the future.

Fans have reacted with an enormous outpouring of sadness and heartbreak on social media this week as they adjust to the news. On a positive note, the couple have made efforts to remain amicable which can make an enormous difference in their separation process, for themselves, and more importantly, for their son.
