Philosophy and Background
As a collaboratively trained professional, Garrett offers a range of dispute-resolution options. Her experience includes handling complex financial matters, including business valuations up to $5M, multiple trials across two counties, and several arbitrations. This diverse skill set allows her to tailor her approach to each client’s unique situation.
Garrett’s commitment to the legal community is evident in her role as President of the Island County Bar Association. This leadership position, along with her service on the Island County Law Library Board, underscores her dedication to improving legal services and access to justice in her community.
Drawing from her experience as a military spouse, Garrett brings invaluable insight to cases involving military families. She understands the unique challenges these families face and has extensive experience addressing military-specific issues in divorce and custody matters.
Garrett holds a B.A. in Political Science from Berry College and both a J.D. and D.C.L. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. She is admitted to practice in Washington State and is an active member of several professional associations, including the WSBA Family Law Section and the Military Spouse J.D. Network.
Outside the courtroom, Garrett embraces an adventurous spirit. She’s an avid hiker, camper, and backpacker, often embarking on solo camping trips or joining women’s groups for outdoor excursions. Currently training for a challenging 22-mile day hike through the Enchantments, Garrett brings the same determination to her legal practice as she does to her personal pursuits.
Role in the Seattle Community
At home on Whidbey Island, Garrett shares her life with her spouse, a former Navy member, and a menagerie of pets including two dogs, two cats, a tortoise, and ten chickens. This personal connection to both military life and the local community enhances her ability to relate to and support her clients.
Recognized as a “Runner Up, Best Legal Professional” in the “Best of Whidbey” awards in both 2020 and 2021, Garrett continues to make a positive impact in her field and community. Her goal is to help families navigate legal challenges with dignity, ensuring that both parents can maintain positive relationships with their children and each other long after the legal process concludes.
